The third important tactical intention after consistency and direction is depth. We want to serve with the depth that will put our opponent in the most unfavorable situation. To consistently exploit depth, it is essential that we use the continental grip and master the main spin of the serve, hitting the ball from below upwards. In the first serve, we put the least possible spin so that the serve gains a lot of speed (the more spin, the greater the air resistance, and the slower the ball becomes). A good first serve is quite powerful and will likely bounce a few centimeters deep from the baseline, leaving our opponent on the baseline or even further back. It's very good for making it impossible for them to attack us with a return serve. But there's a variation of the serve with a slice effect, in which the racket slightly hits the side of the ball and follows a slight curve. In this case, if we aim for the singles sideline on the sideline with less depth, we can significantly move our opponent out of the court and attack them with the next ball on the backhand side. With a kick serve on the advantage side, a less deep serve can also significantly move the opponent out of the court, with the same objective: to create space and make the opponent run a lot!
