Loflied op de langzaamloper (30) - 2 x Industrie 6D41 op de Moby King
Kees van Leeuwen, director and owner of Tisset Rederij & Partyrondvaarten, speaks fondly of the two Industrie 6D41 engines in the Moby King cruise ship. "They are reliable, efficient engines." The Moby King was built in 1960 at Appingedam Shipyard as the ferry Rottum for Wagenborg Passenger Services, which operated the ferry service to Ameland. In 1968, the Rottum was lengthened from 35.67 meters to 49.49 meters. In 1996, Van Leeuwen purchased the Rottum and renamed her the Moby King. Today, she cruises with up to 600 passengers. In the video, Van Leeuwen demonstrates the starting procedure for the two Industries. He points out that the sustainability of the 1960 engines lies not only in their low fuel consumption. "Sustainability also means: they last a very long time."
