Neuer BMW X5: 141 kWh Akku im BMW iX5 60 xDrive! | Ausfahrt TV News
BMW is preparing the new X5 for series production. The fifth generation of the Sports Activity Vehicle is currently undergoing final fine-tuning tests around the BMW Group plant in Spartanburg, USA, and they have a test track there that we'll see a bit of today. Keep an eye out for the signs. The new X5 will be the first BMW production model to be offered with five different drive technologies. Plans include a fully electric BMW iX5, a hydrogen model, gasoline and diesel engines with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology, and plug-in hybrid variants. The focus at the launch is on the fully electric BMW iX5. The BMW iX5 60 xDrive is the brand's first production model to utilize the sixth generation of BMW eDrive technology. This includes a new high-voltage battery concept with cylindrical cells, an 800-volt architecture, and an electric motor on each axle. The system output is 425 kW (578 hp). The electric all-wheel drive system is called BMW xDrive. The high-voltage battery is the largest ever used in a fully electric BMW model. In the US, BMW specifies a usable energy content of 144 kWh net, while in Europe it is 141 kWh net. BMW has not yet released consumption and range figures according to WLTP, as these are still prototypes in the development phase. In addition to the iX5 60 xDrive, the BMW X5 40 xDrive and the BMW X5 50e xDrive were also presented during the final test drives. The X5 40 xDrive delivers 294 kW (400 hp). The plug-in hybrid X5 50e xDrive produces 360 kW (490 hp). BMW has announced the iX5 Hydrogen for 2028. It is slated to be the brand's first production vehicle with a hydrogen drive. The powertrain combines a fuel cell system, a high-voltage battery, and a newly developed BMW Hydrogen flat storage unit. The system utilizes the third generation of BMW fuel cell technology and is designed to be more compact and efficient than previous solutions. A key technical innovation is the so-called Heart of Joy. This is a new high-performance control unit with the in-house developed BMW Dynamic Performance Control driving stack. According to BMW, the system processes driving dynamics functions ten times faster than previous solutions. It controls the drive, brakes, partial steering functions, as well as charging and recuperation in milliseconds. In the all-electric iX5 and the iX5 Hydrogen, the technology is expected to offer advantages, particularly during deceleration. BMW promises exceptionally smooth deceleration and increased energy recovery through recuperation. In the combustion engine and plug-in hybrid variants, digital driving dynamics systems manage traction and stability. These include the standard tenth-generation lateral dynamics management and actuator-based wheel slip limitation. BMW has also made technical improvements to the chassis. The new X5 comes standard with an adaptive suspension featuring electronically controlled, wheel-specific dampers. The axle load distribution is nearly 50:50. The dampers continuously adjust to suit both comfort and sportier driving conditions. Wheel sizes increase to up to 23 inches, and mixed tires are standard. For the all-electric iX5 and the plug-in hybrid models, BMW offers the optional Adaptive Chassis Control Professional. This package combines a two-axle air suspension with electronically controlled dampers, Integral Active Steering, and active roll stabilization. #bmw #bmwx5 #bmwix5 Advertisement: See for yourself how much your dream car costs per month on a lease.
