Ernest Moniz, Former Secretary of Energy, headlined the Conradin von Gugelberg Memorial event at the GSB's Climate Conference on February 18, 2026. Secretary Moniz participated in a fireside chat with Jonathan Garfinkel, MBA 05, a GSB Lecturer and Partner at TPG Rise. A leading voice on energy innovation pathways and international security matters, Ernest J. Moniz served as the thirteenth United States Secretary of Energy from 2013 to January 2017. As secretary, Moniz advanced energy technology innovation, nuclear security and strategic stability, cutting-edge capabilities for the American scientific research community, and environmental stewardship. The annual Conradin von Gugelberg Memorial honors a member of the MBA Class of ’87, and was founded by his peers to foster environmental responsibility among business students. The annual Climate, Business and Innovation Summit brings GSB students, alumni, and the wider Stanford community together to explore the challenges and opportunities presented by climate change.
