Tackling climate change with conservation agriculture in Malawi
Malawi is one of the world’s poorest countries, and 80% of its population relies on small scale agriculture to survive. In recent years, climate change has begun to have a massive impact on these farmers. Concern has worked with more than 16,000 Malawian farmers to help them adopt Conservation Agriculture (CA) techniques in the face of climate change. These simple techniques help farmers to conserve moisture in the soil, increase soil fertility and grow more diverse and nutritious crops year-round. This video shows the difference Conservation Agriculture has made to the lives of women, men and children supported by Concern in Malawi. After only one year of implementing CA, yields increased significantly and areas affected by dry spells achieved much better harvests than those where conventional agriculture was practiced. Through partnership with the African Climate Smart Agriculture Alliance, Concern aims to scale up CA to six million farmers worldwide. #emergencyresponse #humanitarianaid To learn more about Concern's work, visit: http://www.concern.net Subscribe to Concern here: https://shorturl.at/ok4fG Follow Concern here: Facebook: / concernworldwide X: https://x.com/concern Instagram: / concernworldwide LinkedIn: / concern-worldwide Tiktok: / concernworldwide Across 25 of the world’s poorest countries, reaching 30 million people each year, Concern Worldwide is a leading Irish humanitarian organisation that strives to end extreme poverty, whatever it takes.
