CHEAPEST & EASIEST Rocker Panel Replacement - DIY Under $200 Materials
Thank you for watching! We hope you like the video and consider subscribing! In this video we are working on some nasty rocker panels! we are going to give you a quick overview on the drivers side and then go in depth on the passenger side. So, First thing Cam started on was cutting off the old rusted out rocker panel. With that removed, he used the grinder to clean up the rusted surface, as well as the painted surface that he will weld to. With that complete it was on to prepping the new rocker panel he put primer on the inside of the new rocker panel, and trimmed the panel to fit nicely. These are the cheaper ones, if you spend more money you can get replacement rockers that direct fit on. With the rocker panel positioned properly on the truck, being held in place with vise grips he tac welded the panel, double checked that everything is fitting, then continued to weld the along the top edge of the panel. Once the top was complete, he drilled small holes in the bottom lip of the rocker panel where the factory pinch welds would normally be and welded in the hold to mimic a spot welder. If we had a spot welder we would just use that instead. With the rocker panel in place it was time to repair the cab corner. You can buy cab corner patch pieces, but these were not too big and can was able to cut and bend a few pieces to make one from scratch. After everything was in place he cleaned it all up with the grinder. He spread filler over the seams of where he welded the new patch panels on and then sanded them smooth. Once that was done, a little bit of rocker guard and some white paint to finish things off We have another project coming out next week so keep an eye out for that! / rustedridestv https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?... car, cars, truck, trucks, hot rod, muscle car, fix, fixing, rebuild, restoration, restore, paint, painting, paint job, dodge, tim deegan, cam pollard, rust, rusted, rides, mechanic, diy, before and after, transformation, before, after, fender, quarter panel, door, mirror, decal, rocker panel, rusty rocker, rocker replacement, how to, rust fix, weld, repair, dodge ram,
