⚓️ Sailboat Hits Wall as Huge Ship Nears Duluth Canal

A sailboat radioed that it had lost engine power inside the Duluth Ship Canal just as a 1000-foot Great Lakes ship approached the Aerial Lift Bridge. With the huge ship closing in on the Duluth Ship Canal, multiple crew members could be seen desperately pushing the sailboat away from the wall as waves continued smashing the vessel back into the canal wall. They tried to clear the canal before the massive ship reached the bridge. This intense situation unfolded live on camera as spectators watched the drama build in Canal Park while the 1000-foot ship slowly made its turn toward the Duluth Ship Canal. During the incident, the disabled sailboat called over the radio requesting a tow after reporting engine failure inside the canal. Another nearby vessel then radioed back, warning them that a ship was already approaching the Duluth Ship Canal, adding even more tension to the situation as the sailboat continued crashing against the wall. Eventually, the crew was able to move the sailboat farther down the wall and out of the canal path, and according to reports, the engine restarted near the end of the incident. Thankfully, nobody was hurt, and the situation was resolved safely before the massive ship passed through the canal.
