Beyazid-i Bestamî’nin Sırrı! (Münir Derman (k.s.))

Hazrat Bayazid-i Bestami… The supreme pole at the center of that great question Hazrat Shams posed to Rumi… The man of light, burned with the love of the Messenger of Allah, cooked in the hands of Ja'far al-Sadiq, and unbearable to those who looked upon his face… Munir Derman (may God be pleased with him) says on this subject: “Bayazid-i Bestami said, ‘Glory be to my glory!’ He lost consciousness. They said, ‘I am God.’ He declared, ‘God is beyond the flesh.’ He said, ‘If I speak again, stab me!’” When Hazrat fell into trance again, his disciples drew their swords; but the sword of the one who struck was bent and stuck into himself. For to judge without understanding is to wound the truth. When explaining this state, Münir Derman says: “You must speak as people think. Not according to your own mind! Bayezid spoke according to his own station; others could not understand. They attributed lies to the Prophet and God.” Indeed, when one of the people of God said, “I receive eighty manifestations a day!” the answer was: “Go see Bayazid!” He went… He came to the mountainside… Bayezid’s “radar” sensed his approach. The saint went out. As soon as he looked at the saint’s face, he said, “Blow!” He fell to the ground, just as Moses, peace be upon him, fainted on Mount Tur. God Almighty says: ﴿ ... That is why Abu Jahl, gazing upon the face of the Messenger of Allah, exclaimed, "How ugly you are!" A mirror does not reveal defects; it reveals the inner being of the beholder. Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) exclaimed, "O Messenger of Allah, how beautiful you are!" For: "A believer is a mirror of another believer." And Munir Darman (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "If you spit in a mirror, you spit in your own face." This conversation explains how souls that cannot bear the weight of truth are broken, why the ranks of great saints are not understood, and how veils cannot be torn unless one recognizes one's own flaws and purifies oneself. Do not try to lift the veil; purify yourself; the veil will tear of its own accord. This is the essence of this conversation.
