THE MEEK BRINGS PEACE | The Word Exposed with Cardinal Tagle (July 5, 2026) with Sign Language We are on the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time; in today’s gospel, Jesus’s prayer teaches us a couple of things. He praises the Father for calling the “little ones” to faith, enabling them to welcome his teachings unlike “the wise and the learned.” Then, he reveals to them his relationship with the Father: “No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.” This means that God reveals himself, and we get to know him, through the life and person of Jesus. He concludes with an invitation to come to him, promising rest and respite to those who labor and are burdened. Jesus who is meek and humble of heart will give rest and peace. Only the meek can give peace.
