In an effort to gain control of a particularly unruly and disruptive class, a high school science teacher struggles to decide on a topic to cover that will captivate his uninterested pupils. He settles on the rather dull subject of ultrasound and subsonic sound waves, sound you cannot hear with the naked ear, and begins a search to find a way to make it interesting. In doing so, he stumbles upon research by a fellow scientist, and decides to reenact the experiments in his classroom.
