Age of the chicks: Storklet #1: 24 days old - Storklet #2: 24 days old - Storklet #3: 22 days old It obviously had food in its crop. Everyone was shocked after the attacks; you can see it. There were no further attacks after that. Meija stayed by the nest tree all night—her first night. Normally, Ogris spends the night with the chicks. Considering that adult black storks can seriously injure or even kill other adults, I would say these little ones are not out of danger of being killed by their parents—not even at this age. Meija spared only the oldest one; she knows exactly which of them hatched first. I think food is becoming scarce. Meija had obviously eaten; her crop was full. But she needed the food for herself. I didn't see any particularly large droppings from either her or Ogris. According to the information available to Māris Strazds , the black stork nesting area here has been known since at least 2003, however, this nest was only found in January 2021. The nest may have been built in 2010 after the previous nest was abandoned. In the previous nest in this area, one of the adult birds was ringed. 📌 2021 there were no chicks, in nest 📌 2022 three young birds were successfully hatched. 📌 2022 both nesting adult birds were ring less. 📌 2023 there were no chicks. Adults were ring less 📌 2024 Urga and Ogris raised 4 healthy chicks. All were ringed. The parents are without rings 📌 2025 two adult on nest.
