Meet the Authors | ‘Listening to Otherness’ with Radvilė Rimgailė-Voicik y Santiago Eslava-Bejarano

In this Meet the Authors event of Volumen 10: 'Peace', we spoke with Dr. Radvilė Rimgailė-Voicik, a lithuanian botanist and scientist at Vilnius University's Life Sciences Center, that specializes in researching lycopods that evoke the ancient memories of the dinosaur era. She is the co-author of the multimedia story ‘Lycophyte Futures’. And our second guest is Santiago Eslava-Bejarano a PhD student in comparative literature at the University of Southern California (USC) that focus his research on the ways in which language and interspecies communication are represented and problematized in contemporary literature, arts, and philosophy. He is the author of the text ‘Tending to the Pain of the Jungle’. We discussed various themes addressed by both stories, such as the process of listening to the territory, landscapes as living repositories of memories, the limitations involved in translating more-than-human forms of expression, and their own transformative creative processes.
