Today's adventure takes us from the very southern tip of Lincoln, at S. 27th Street and Rokeby Road, up north through suburbs, many commercial areas, Lincoln's Country Club area and the heart of Lincoln, finishing at 27th and "O" Streets (the exact mirror of the "North Central to Central Lincoln" video). Some better streets along this route. I remember when I was a kid, Lincoln's south boundary was three miles north of where this video begins. Lincoln has grown rapidly towards the south since then and continues to do so, although the great recession has slowed things a bit. Now the big push is to grow east, it seems. Wilderness Ridge is on the left (to the west). 2:40 - Porter Park is on the right. 3:23 - SouthPointe Pavillons (shopping center) is on the right. 5:17 - Fire Station #4 is on the right. 6:11 - Tierra Briarhurst Park is on the right. 6:54 - Rock Island Bicycle Trail passes overhead. Beal Slough passes underneath. A tip of Peterson Park will be on the left. Star City Shores will be on the right just after the bridge. 7:24 - Nebraska Highway (NE Hwy. 2) intersection. 8:24 - The Lincoln Country Club area. The Lincoln Country Club is on the left. 12:10 - The Lincoln Children't Zoo entrance is on the right along with the Lincoln Indoor Playground. The Lincoln Rose Gardens are soon after on the right. 12:18 - The Sunken Gardens is on the left. 12:40 - Capital Parkway intersection. Antelope Creek passes underneath the intersection along with the Rock Island Bicycle Trail. 12:46 - The former small town of Randolph is here. Lincoln took it over many years ago. 13:07 - American Legion Park can be seen on the left. 14:35 - Eastbound on "O" Street (U.S. Hwy. 34).
