With Himitsudo’s shaved ice as my goal, I went for a stroll through the areas of Yanaka and Nezu, where the old-town atmosphere still lingers. Hello, this is komélog. This time, I took a leisurely stroll from Nippori Station through the Yanaka and Nezu areas all the way to Ueno Station. The streets, with their soothing, old-town atmosphere, and the scenery of vibrant new greenery. The Azalea Festival was being held at Nezu Shrine, so I was able to experience the festive atmosphere of a traditional downtown festival. Otome Inari Shrine, famous for its thousand torii gates, was also breathtaking. If I’d been hungry, I would have loved to grab a bite from one of the food stalls. (But I was already full from the shaved ice.) I bought some delicious bread in Ueno Sakuragi, took a refreshing break in Ueno Park, and finally got to try Himitsudo’s Strawberry Sanmai—something I’ve been wanting to eat for years. It was another incredibly satisfying stroll.
