This time, I went to Aso in Kumamoto Prefecture. While Aso is famous for Kusasenrigahama, where horses can be seen, I went to Sunasenrigahama. A completely different world unfolded before me, almost unrecognizable as the same Aso. Address: Yoshida, Aso City, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture Accessible via footpath from Aso Mountain Plaza. However, entry may be prohibited depending on volcanic activity. Please be sure to check the volcanic activity status before visiting. As of May 2026, crater viewing at Aso Nakadake is closed. Similar to Sunasenrigahama, please check the volcanic activity status. Parking: There are free and paid parking options, but when I visited in March 2026, only the free parking lot was occupied (perhaps because crater viewing was closed), so I don't have information on the paid parking.
