Family Ties: The Story of Adeline Yen Mah
Follows author Adeline Yen Mah, whose recently published autobiogrphy ‘Falling Leaves’ traces her life from the prosperous Shanghai of the 1940s, to the savagery of the Cultural Revolution, through to the commercial boom of Hong Kong and to her life as a doctor in California. Her story is that of an unwanted Chinese daughter who, although born into an affluent family, was rejected when her mother died and her father married a Eurasian woman. Defiant in the face of rejection, Adeline Yen Mah completed her education in the UK and the USA, going on to be a successful doctor, but always caught in the web of family feuds and malice.
