Porokeratosis explained: new research shows statin creams may finally work — but most patients can’t get them. Porokeratosis is a frustrating condition — stubborn patches on sun-exposed skin that don’t respond well to traditional treatments. For decades, patients have been offered cryotherapy, 5-fluorouracil, or imiquimod, often with limited success.
