People of Pittsburgh, you are!” - Paul’s opening words as he greets this sold-out crowd at the Civic Arena tonight. Tour fatigue is definitely setting in, and Paul’s rough shape has finally made its way into the setlist, as four songs total have been dropped from the running order; ‘Band On The Run’, ‘Maybe I’m Amazed’, ‘Twenty Flight Rock’, and ‘Ain’t That A Shame’. 'Yesterday' has also been keyed down, now being performed in F like the studio version. This is the first performance of the song in its' original key since Hammersmith 1979. On top of his vocal issues, he’s caught a cold while in Pittsburgh, further sinking his voice down to a true shadow of its former self. Tonight's recording starts off good but it degrades considerably after 'Coming Up', with 'Live and Let Die' to the end of the show being in pretty rough quality (it sounds like it went through some bad noise reduction). The performances tonight are absolutely abysmal, with Paul genuinely sounding miserably rough. The Wembley gigs perhaps were worse range-wise, but his tone is probably at an all-time low tonight. Despite brief moments of decency, he hits several terrible moments tonight that keep this performance firmly in the lowest possible tier. Songs like 'Figure of Eight', 'Jet', 'Got To Get You Into My Life', 'Fool On The Hill', and 'Can't Buy Me Love' are some of his worst vocal performances ever. Thankfully, the rest of the band is still keen on delivering a great performance, with Hamish in particular going all out in several songs including 'Pepper' and 'This One', helping out the struggling frontman in several occasions. 'Coming Up' is a strange mixed bag as Paul sounds absolutely disgusting on it, but Chris ends up delivering the most unique jam of the tour with him turning off the drum loop and making up his own drum beat instead, a pretty cool musical moment.
