“Khaled Mosharraf was punching and abusing me with a spinner” Ainuddin. Photolane Khaled Mosharraf (1937-1975) was a Bangladeshi freedom fighter and military officer. During the 1971 Liberation War, Khaled was the Sector Commander of Sector 2 of the Mukti Bahini and the Commander-in-Chief of 'K-Force'. He was awarded the Bir Uttam Padak for his bravery. On 3 November 1975, he took over as the Chief of Army Staff after putting Ziaur Rahman under house arrest in a military coup. Just 3 days later, on 7 November, he was killed in a counter-coup led by retired Colonel Taher. He passed his matriculation in 1953 from Cox's Bazar Government High School and passed his intermediate in 1955 from Dhaka College. He then joined the Kakul Military Academy in Pakistan. After being commissioned in the army in 1957, he received training at various army training centers for about eight years (1957-1965). During the Indo-Pak war of 1965, Khaled Mosharraf was appointed as the Adjutant of the 4th Bengal Regiment. After the war, he joined the Kakul Military Academy as an instructor. After graduating from there, he was promoted to Major. In 1968, he received a PSC degree from the Quetta Staff College and was assigned to the 57th Brigade in Kharia as a Brigade Major. When he was supposed to go to Germany and the United Kingdom for military training, he was transferred to Dhaka in March 1970. On March 24, 1971, Khaled Mosharraf was given the responsibility of the 4th Bengal Regiment in Comilla. On March 26, he was stationed in Shamsernagar, Moulvibazar, with two companies of soldiers of the 4th East Bengal Regiment. Upon receiving the news of the massacre by the Pakistani occupation forces in Dhaka, he rebelled and that night he left for Brahmanbaria with his forces. The next morning, 27 March, when he reached Brahmanbaria, his forces and those of Major Shafayat Jamil, who was already stationed there, joined forces. Having already received his radio instructions, Bengali soldiers led by Shafayat Jamil arrested Punjabi soldiers stationed in Brahmanbaria. Khaled took charge of the commanding officer of the 4th Bengal Regiment. Considering the situation, he shifted the office of his force from Brahmanbaria to the Telipara tea garden. On 6 November 1975, Khaled Mosharraf and his two colleagues Colonel Nazmul Huda and Lieutenant Colonel A.T.M. Haider went to the 10th East Bengal Regiment. The next day, on 7 November 1975, at 11 am, on the orders of an officer of the 2nd Field Regiment Artillery (allegedly given by Lieutenant Colonel Mohiuddin Ahmed, who was hanged on 28 January 2010 for the murder of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman), some officers of the 10th East Bengal Regiment killed Khaled Mosharraf and his two colleagues Colonel ATM Haider and Colonel Huda.
