In this video a Senior Officer of Haryana Cooperative Department presently on deputation with National Cooperative Union of India, New Delhi has discussed about the nature of cooperative societies and the preliminary process involved in their registration. She has elaborated that cooperative sector is a unique economic sector where the resources of members are pooled to do any economic activity and benefits are equally shared.  The cooperative societies have their own legal identity and all members are co-owners of the society.  For registration of society the departments of cooperative societies are approached which are set up in each State of India at Sub-division/Taluka/District level as well as State level also.  Cooperative Societies are governed by Cooperative Societies Act of each State.
