Mulching na mandioca: reduz o mato e aumenta a produtividade

The mulching technique, which consists of covering the soil with a plastic tarp, is gaining prominence in the cultivation of cassava for table use on properties in the Brazilian Cerrado region. This form of management brings benefits such as a significant reduction in the need for labor to control weeds, reducing the dependence on manual weeding and the use of herbicides. In addition to being practical, mulching also contributes to an average increase of 13% in the productivity of cassava roots, retention of soil moisture, erosion control and improvement of the biological quality of the soil. Traditionally used in vegetables, the technique is now beginning to be successfully tested in cassava crops.
