1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega 300 Original Miles

SOLD This beautiful 2-owner 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega #3402 with 338 original miles “Survivor” is believed to be the lowest mileage green exterior Cosworth Vega in existence. This car is 1 of 2 Cosworth Vegas documented with the Cosworth Vega Owners Association that has the green exterior with a black vinyl interior. The letter of authenticity from the Cosworth Vega Owners Association president John Cowall is included. The Chevrolet Vega is a subcompact four-passenger automobile produced by Chevrolet for the 1975 and 1976 model years. The Cosworth Vega is a limited-production version of the Chevrolet Vega with higher performance. Chevrolet developed the car’s all-aluminum inline-four 122 cu in (1,999 cc) engine and British company Cosworth Engineering designed the DOHC cylinder head. GM’s general manager John DeLorean was part of the engine design. 5,000 engines were built because the plan was to build 5,000 Cosworth Vegas. A total of 3,508 cars were actually built. They were priced nearly double that of a base Vega and only $900.00 below the 1975 Chevrolet Corvette. The Cosworth Vega was one of Chevrolets lowest production automobiles including the rare 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Split window coupe. In 1975, all 2,061 Cosworth Vegas were finished in black acrylic lacquer with gold “Cosworth Twin Cam” letting on the front fenders and rear cove panel. Gold pin striping was on the hood bulge, body sides, wheel openings and rear cove. In 1976, a total of 1,447 Cosworth Vegas were built and roughly 625-650 were painted in eight different colors. Based on percentages of colors built roughly 50 were painted green. The 1976 model received a facelift that included a wider grill, tri-color lamps and extensive body anti-rust improvements. As the original window that is still on the window indicates this car was delivered to Dan Kightlinger Chevrolet located in Cochranton, PA. It was ordered with the following options: 49L –Dark Green Metallic, 19W –Black Vinyl bucket, Z09- Cosworth Vega package, A01- soft-ray tinted glass, B37- color keyed floor mats, G80-positraction rear axle, LY3-122-EFI Twin Cam L4, M75-5-speed manual transmission, QLA- BR70-13 radial tires, U69-AM/FM radio and U80- rear seat speaker. This car was originally a display vehicle for Dan Kightlinger Chevrolet so orders could be taken from it. After Chevrolet announced the cancellation of the Cosworth Vega the owner Dan Kightlinger Sr. decided to keep it in his personal collection for where it stayed for 38 years. As the copy of the title documents it was purchased by a used car dealership in Wexford, PA on January 3rd, 2014. It was in there collection for a few years until it was purchased by a gentleman in Washington, MI on April 4th, 2016. The car is technically a two owner vehicle since the used car dealership isn’t considered an owner. The car was purchased by MS CLASSIC CARS on September 21st, 2019. This car is accompanied with the original documentation that includes the window sticker, partial build sheet, all the visor decals, owner’s manuals, keys, license plate attachment unit and dealership key tags. The original acrylic lacquer paint is in very nice overall condition. The paint was verified original by the CVOA president and tested with an electronic paint meter by MS CLASSIC CARS. As expected with 43 year acrylic lacquer paint it does show signs of age with shrinking. It also has some small imperfections and the roof does have a small dent on the passenger side. All of the factory stamped glass is original and in very nice condition. All of the original exterior trim such as the window trim, door handles, front bumper, grille, headlight bezels, rear bumper and tail lights are in very nice condition. The car is current sitting on what’s believed to be reproduction wheels with Cooper Radial GT 205-60-13 tires. There’s also a matching spare wheel and tire. The original wheels with the original Goodyear BR 70-13 tires are included. The original spare wheel and original spare tire are included. The undercarriage is very clean and presentable. It retains all the factory original parts and stickers. The car was undercoated at the dealership to prevent rust. Some of the undercoating was also applied on the lower section of the engine bay firewall. This 1976 Chevrolet Cosworth Vega #3402 is one of the best known examples to exist. This is a great opportunity. This vehicle was recently serviced and detailed which is documented with an invoice that is included. Follow us on social media!
