Starting a New Bin for Blue Worms Perionyx excavatus Part 1 #wormbin #wormfarming
I'm excited to share the beginning of my newest worm bin: my blue worm bin! The scientific name of blue worms is Perionyx excavatus. The point of this video - part 1 - is to share how I put a worm bin together. This isn't exactly how I started my bins in the beginning. Really the only difference is I added more soil, more water, and more plant matter from outside. Also I started this bin as though I don't have compost or other worm bins. I wanted to be able to show someone starting from scratch one way they could start a bin. Otherwise, I would have added some compost or worm castings after carefully searching for any other worms or cocoons, to inoculate the bin with microbes and bacteria. I messed up at the end and stopped recording on accident so it's an abrupt end. Sorry about that. But stay tuned for the next video in which I collected blue worms from my current bins. My goal was 100-200; how many do you think I found? Thank you! #theelpydimension
