Das geht jeden an - Westfalen 1937 | FILMSCHÄTZE

In our new "Film Treasures" series, we present original film footage from Westphalia dating back to the 1930s. The film "This Concerns Everyone" focuses on the cultural riches of the Westphalia region. Besides cities and landscapes, it showcases well-known landmarks such as the Hermann Monument. The film is a product of its time and, in its portrayal of a supposedly idyllic rural life, alludes to the blood-and-soil ideology of the National Socialists. At the same time, the film was intended as a propaganda piece. In fact, the production was commissioned by the Westphalian Provincial Fire Insurance Company to draw attention to fire hazards that could destroy the cultural heritage depicted. In the "Film Treasures" series, we publish selected documentaries, short films, and amateur films from past decades in their entirety on YouTube. A characteristic feature of the film selection is that the "Film Treasures" focus on themes from Westphalia, examine them from the perspective of their time of origin, and convey a certain period atmosphere.
