How To Replace A Crankshaft Seal On A Two Stroke Motorcycle 🔧⚙️🔩 KTM Husqvarna 300/250 xc xcw
Check out our line of Enduro Helmet chin mounts for action cameras - https://shop.wannabes.life Two strokes tend to smoke a lot. There's no real news there. But how can you tell when your bike is having a problem? When I first bought my 2010 KTM 300 xcw, it smoked quite a bit. Not knowing how much the bike was supposed to smoke I decided that it would be fine and I ran it for several years when I should have just torn the clutch cover off and replaced the crank shaft seal then. Having not done that, I now have a pretty good idea of what the symptoms of a bad crank shaft seal are. Before we get into that, let me just explain that the crank seal separates the crank case side of the engine from the transmission side of the engine on pretty much every two stroke. When that seal goes out, the bike leaks transmission gear oil into the crank side of the engine which in turn gets sucked into the cylinder and burns out the exhaust. Aside from the bike smoking a lot there are a few other good indications that your bike needs a new crank shaft seal. After all, you may have mixed your gas too rich and that could be causing some additional exhaust smoke. The biggest indication that your crank seal is going out is that your transmission gear oil will get low even though your bike isn't leaking externally. If your bike is smoking a lot and your gear oil is low, you should look into replacing your crank seal soon. Additionally, black gooey burnt oil will start leaking from the silencer end of the exhaust pipe which will run down and make a mess of your swing arm. If that isn't enough evidence you can also pull your spark plug and look to see how much carbon is built up on the plug. If your bike is having all of these problems you should look into replacing the crank seal soon.
