How to Replace Rear Brake Pads Ford Fusion

This should be the same process for any 2006-2012 (First Generation) Ford Fusion. This is something that is universal and should apply to almost any vehicle on the road with disc brakes. The brake system in your vehicle is the most important safety feature. It’s important to understand how it works and how to maintain/prevent any issues before the vehicle becomes unsafe to drive. Calipers use hydraulic pressure supplied by the master cylinder to apply pressure to the brake caliper, which in turn squeezes your brake pads on the rotor to stop or slow your vehicle. This process is the same for the Front calipers as well. Changing your brakes is something that needs to be done around every 40,000/50,000 miles. It is a good idea to use what is specified by the manufacturer, which is usually a ceramic pad or better. This is not a good place to try to save money! I would like to suggest using at least a medium grade brake pad. If the vehicle isn’t shaking or pulsating through the brakes when you apply them, then you shouldn’t have to replace the rotors. Once the brake job is completed, it's VERY IMPORTANT to pump your brakes several times until normal brake pressure returns. This is required to push the piston back out until the pads contact the rotor. There shouldn't be a need to bleed the brake system using this method.
