The Ministry of Defence wants to clear 44 hectares of forest for the much-discussed ammunition depot. This is causing serious concern for a group of Staphorst residents. They believe the forest is of great natural value: "The environment is already in a bad way, we can't afford to lose this forest. Not even ten percent." Now that they haven't been able to prevent the depot's arrival, they are focusing on compensating for the nature that will disappear. Overijssel is a green province!
