Southern 2601: The High Hood GP30 on a Freight Train (NCTM May 2021)
On Saturday May 22nd 2021, I made made way once again to the North Carolina Transportation Museum. It was the day of the train show and the annual membership day. Southern GP30 high hood 2601 was pulling a photo freight train long hood forward (with white flags) behind the passenger train to celebrate the day. The freight train consisted of some large covered hoppers (including the ACL whopper hopper), smaller hoppers, and some boxcars (including the 3-colored Southern Railway’s 200,000th boxcar). The Southern Bay Window Caboose was at the end to tie the train together. Enjoy a Southern powered freight train at the NCTM!
