Building Cervia's Fortress of Salt (Torre San Michele) — Cardboard Scale Model
Building a scale cardboard model of Torre San Michele, the fortified salt tower on Cervia's canal harbour on Italy's Adriatic coast. Torre San Michele was built between 1689 and 1691 by Michelangelo Maffei, treasurer of Romagna, to defend Cervia's salt trade from Ottoman and Saracen pirate raids. Square, 22.5 meters tall, with 3-meter-thick walls, it stood guard over the Magazzino Torre — the "cathedral of salt" — right beside the canal that once shipped Cervia's white gold out to the rest of Italy. 00:00 Intro 00:41 Planning 01:11 Foundation 06:22 Buildings 16:38 Coloring 27:20 Finalising 📍 Location: Cervia, Emilia-Romagna, Italy 🏰 Structure: Torre San Michele (1689–1691) 🧱 Material: Cardboard If you enjoy historically grounded scale builds of castles, towers and ruins across Italy and Provence, subscribe for more from Box & Blade. #Cervia #TorreSanMichele #CardboardModel #ScaleModel #Diorama #Italy #EmiliaRomagna #Papercraft #HistoricalArchitecture
