It would follow pretty much the exact same formula as what we saw them use in Village as well, with us getting a remake of the original RE4’s Mercenaries mode as free DLC shortly after launch, and one paid story expansion coming later in the year. This was a huge shock for fans, not because it was unusual for a Resident Evil game to get DLC, but because this was the first time that a remake in the series would get some proper DLC… and it was a remake of a game that came out before Capcom even started making DLC for the franchise. This led to a mix of excitement and concern, as many fans were thrilled to hear that they would be getting more of this now beloved game, but an equal amount if not more were questioning if it was even ethical for Capcom to be locking content for the remake behind a paid DLC in the first place.
