Land Rover Series 3 - Engine Service
The old Series 3 was starting to get a bit sluggish (yes, even slower than usual) which usually indicates that a service is due.... every 3000 miles or sooner is best to keep the engine in mechanical harmony. Every 6000 for the transmission - tomorrows job is to check levels in the gearbox, transfer box and axles and adjust the hand brake. This 109" series 3 was one of the last long wheel base "leafers" and was built in 1983. It served with the British Army until 2002, it has a 2.25 liter petrol engine. I fitted a new oil filter, spark plugs, washed out the air cleaner and breather, checked the points and topped up with 20W50 mineral oil - around 8 liters in this late 5 bearing engine.
