Stumbled upon by British surveyor William Cameron in 1885, it was not until the 1920s that the British colonial administration recognized Cameron Highlands' potential. Tea just grows beautifully here, and temperatures rarely stray outside 18-25 degrees Celcius - very tempting to a suit-wearing Brit, no matter how much they might relish the tropical heat and humidity of lowlands Malaysia. Today, the region offers beautiful trails, forest walks, tea plantations, local traditions and old boutique resorts with plenty of history.
