[Regarding the Preservation and Repair of the National Treasure Kamiya Shrine Main Hall (Cultural Heritage Building)] The main hall was damaged by lightning on September 27, 2022, with a large portion of the roof being burned. Following a preparation period that included launching a crowdfunding campaign, assessing the damage, and discussing repair plans, preservation and repair work began in October 2023, approximately one year after the disaster. The preservation and repair of the main hall, a National Treasure, is based on the principle of preserving and reusing as much old material as possible. Even when repairs are necessary, they will be kept to the bare minimum. Furthermore, the aim is not only to restore the building to a sound condition, but also to conduct research on its form and techniques, and to pass on the value of the building to future generations. The restoration is being carried out as a national subsidy project, and we have received support from many people, including through crowdfunding. Therefore, we have created a video to widely publicize the restoration process.
