60532 Blue Peter & 47593 with the Welsh Marches Express @ Abergavenny 29.4.26

Another steam charter on the Marches, another steam loco I've never seen before until this day! Here we see the first Welsh Marches Express of the year with none other than A2 Peppercorn class 60532 Blue Peter! She had returned on mainline duties after a huge overhaul in 2024, which would be why she was looking absolutely gorgeous. I researched about this loco's history, it was built in 1946 and is currently the only loco of that class on our railways right now since the others have been scrapped. Anyway, she was cruising through platform 2 with the outward leg of this railtour - 1Z32 from Ulverston to Cardiff Central running about 2 minutes late. I literally had 8 minutes to spare after finding ONE parking space in the car park, so I was really lucky, especially after I had dashed over from a morning work meeting. The fact she went that slow was great because we were able to enjoy seeing her in all her glory. LSL's Intercity liveried 47593 Galloway Princess was providing power on the rear, also looking gorgeous. 1Z33 had left Cardiff about half an hour late, but it was making up some time as 60532 was powering toward the Llanfihangel incline with the 47 also working, hence the clag. The whistle sounded awesome, and it was great to hear a chime whistle again after ages, since Britannia a few years ago...! Note the announcements at the station have been turned back on, with the new female voice Elin which is slowly growing on me, though I preferred Ruth to be honest, but that's a conversation for another day.
