🍽️ DIETA después de la COLECISTECTOMÍA: Qué COMER y QUÉ EVITAR (Guía Completa) 🩺 | Dr. Javier Oliva
🎥 DIET after CHOLECYSTECTOMY: What to EAT and WHAT to AVOID (Complete Guide) 🩺 | Dr. Javier Oliva Hello, surgery patients and their families! 👨⚕️👩⚕️ I'm Dr. Javier Oliva, a general surgeon, and in this video, I'll explain what your diet should be like after a cholecystectomy (gallbladder surgery). You've had the surgery, you no longer have gallstones or pain, but now you eat a pastry or a churro... and you're back to feeling discomfort! Why? If you no longer have a gallbladder, your liver continues to produce bile, but now it has nowhere to store it. Today, I'll show you how to adapt your diet so you can eat without fear and without unpleasant surprises. 🔥 WHAT WILL YOU LEARN? ✅ Why digestion changes: The gallbladder stored and concentrated bile. Without it, bile leaks continuously and is less concentrated, making it difficult to digest large amounts of fat. ✅ The "Three P's" Rule: Small portions: 5-6 meals a day instead of 3 large ones. Little fat at once: Distribute fat intake throughout the day. Choose healthy fats: Olive oil, avocado, nuts, oily fish. ✅ FRIENDLY Foods (first few months): Lean meats (skinless chicken, turkey, lean beef). White fish (and oily fish in moderation). Eggs (grilled, boiled, omelet with little fat). Vegetables (except those that cause gas if they upset your stomach). Whole grains (help bind excess bile). Whole fruit (avoid citrus fruits if you have reflux). - Skimmed or semi-skimmed dairy products. ✅ ENEMY FOODS (to avoid or reduce initially): Fried and breaded foods. Creamy sauces (béchamel, mayonnaise, carbonara). Fatty sausages (chorizo, salami, blood sausage). Organ meats (liver, kidneys, brains). Fast food, pastries, cream, whole milk. ✅ Practical tips for everyday life: Introduce foods one at a time. Cook simply (grill, bake, steam, sauté with a little oil). Use extra virgin olive oil for dressings (one teaspoon per dish). If you have persistent diarrhea, consult your doctor (you may need cholestyramine). Fiber is your ally (vegetables, fruits, whole grains). Chew well and eat slowly. ✅ This isn't permanent: Most people return to a normal diet within 3-6 months. Your gut adapts. 📌 VIDEO CHAPTERS 00:00 - Introduction: Why do I have discomfort after eating if I no longer have a gallbladder? 00:58 - Why does digestion change? If it persists, consult your doctor; sometimes cholestyramine is needed to bind bile acids. ⚠️ You don't have to eliminate fat completely, just distribute it in small amounts throughout the day. ⚠️ Fiber helps absorb excess bile. Gradually increase your intake of vegetables, fruits, and whole grains. ⚠️ Most patients return to a completely normal diet between 3 and 6 months after surgery. 🔔 1️⃣ How is your diet going after the operation?
