Waterford man serving pints only to men since 1920s
Teetotaller Tom Maher ran one of Ireland’s most unique pubs – a male-only bar with no Guinness, early closing times, and strict house rules. Operating from the Moondharraig House in Waterford since 1929, he maintained a traditional approach to hospitality, serving loyal male patrons with his own whiskey blend and a firm philosophy on decorum. Despite controversy and occasional protests, Maher stood by his principles and remained committed to his work well into his later years. Broadcast on 12 September 1999. \#archive #irishpubs
