Manchester Victoria 1990

A brief look at some of the action from the "real" Man Vic as most of us like to remember it before it became the monstrosity it is today . I drive trains into here on a weekly basis and it really is hard to picture the old station layout as it was. A selection of freight and loco hauled passenger workings are seen , including a couple of trans pennine Class 47 workings and vice sprinter loco haulage . Locos featured on passenger are 31142 departing on a Rochdale service 47541 after arrival from Barrow 31428 arriving on service ex Blackpool North 31312 running round a service destined for Barrow. A couple of freights can be seen and a parcels van train heading for the then still open Red Bank , although the Newspaper trains had finished 2 years previously, when Victoria was a hive for such workings in the evenings and early mornings. Various locos can be seen stabled and Scottish 37402 which was on temporary loan to the Stanlow pool is seen thrashing light engine through the station.
