Iran responded with attacks on targets in Israel, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia, also hitting several oil and gas facilities. Oil and gas prices subsequently rose dramatically worldwide. Meanwhile, the war of aggression in Ukraine continues unabated. Both sides are preparing for their planned spring offensives – while Russia is advancing on several fronts, Ukraine is reporting territorial gains in the south. In Brussels today, EU heads of state and government met to discuss further aid for Ukraine. The funds already pledged are currently blocked by the veto of Hungarian Prime Minister Orbán. He is making his approval contingent on the resumption of Russian oil deliveries via the Druzhba pipeline. How dangerous is the new situation in Iran – and what does it mean for Europe?
