The concept of eternal life as "rest" represents a great advance among the accounts of conjectures and speculations prevalent in ancient cultures about life in the afterlife, passing through various stages until reaching the explanation of the biblical authors. This process unfolds before our eyes a series of theories and projections, some fantastical, others originating from divine revelation, about new forms of life after death. Beginning with considerations about eternal life, there is a series of projections based on pondering aspects of sensible life on Earth being projected onto the afterlife.
