Southern Chessie 2716 documents 2 excursions, Operated by Chesapeake & Ohio 2716 in the Spring of 1982. First, we see 2716 operate an Excursion from Atlanta, GA to Chattanooga, TN on April 17th, 1982 , Then followed by an Excursion pulled by 2716 from Atlanta, GA To Toccoa,GA that took place the following weekend of April 24th & 25th, 1982. 2716 (which was leased by the Southern/Norfolk Southern Railroad from 1981 - 1994, for usage in the Southern Steam Program) was used extensively for the 1981 & 1982 season in excursion service for the Southern Steam Program until it was sidelined due to mechanical problems that put the engine out of service.
