Governor Sends Off KMP Aceh Hebat 2's Maiden Voyage from Ulee Lheue to Sabang Banda Aceh - Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah sent off the maiden voyage of the Aceh Hebat 2 Passenger Motor Ship, which will serve the route from Ulee Lheue Port in Banda Aceh to Balohan Port in Sabang, Saturday (January 30, 2021). The ship, which transports goods and passengers, first arrived in Aceh on December 19, 2020, after being built and passing seaworthiness tests in the waters of Bangkalan, Madura, East Java. Before the send-off, Governor Nova entered the ship and toured several parts of it, from the passenger compartment to the bridge where the captain controls navigation and steering. The Governor also greeted several passengers who were ready to join the maiden voyage. They included tourists from outside Aceh and local residents traveling to and from Sabang. "Congratulations, ma'am. The weather is fine. I hope it goes smoothly," said the Governor while greeting a passenger who said she was from Cianjur Regency, West Java. The Governor also greeted the other passengers and presented them with souvenirs as a memento of the ship's maiden voyage. The passengers enthusiastically greeted the Governor and expressed their excitement about boarding the ship. The Governor also entered the ship's bridge and spoke with the ship's captain, Rubai. The Governor asked about the captain's impressions of piloting the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 and about the ship's navigation equipment. Captain Rubai responded that the ship's instruments were quite standard and relatively modern. Meanwhile, after inspecting the ship's interior, Governor Nova told the media that the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 would facilitate the movement of passengers and goods to and from Sabang. The ship was also expected to support the development of Sabang tourism. "We hope the voyage will go smoothly and that its benefits will be truly felt, especially for economic connectivity, including for tourists," said Governor Nova, accompanied by Assistant for Economic Affairs and Development Mawardi and Head of the Aceh Transportation Agency (Kadishub), Junaidi. On its maiden voyage, the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 carried 280 passengers, 80 motorcycles, 27 four-wheeled cars, and one six-wheeled vehicle. In addition, the KMP Aceh Hebat 2 was also manned by a crew of 15, 14 of whom were local and one from outside Aceh.
