Nikki Giovanni Immersive Experience (2025), for performed poetry and computer music, accompanying projected motion graphics and motion-capture dance Nikki Rosa Quilts The Blues Leaves Still Life with Apron Ego Tripping Credits Nikki Giovanni, poetry and readings Brittney Harris and Charles Nichols, poetic arrangement Charles Nichols, music Brittney Harris, embodied movement Trevor Finney and Alice Macanga, motion capture Meaghan Dee, Trevor Finney, Demetrya Dye, and Lexy Altieri, motion/graphic design Gena Chandler, project advisor Meaghan Dee, project manager The Nikki Giovanni Immersive Experience combines recordings of her poetry, read by her at different times of her life, with music and motion graphics. This interdisciplinary collaboration, between a composer, designers, literary experts, embodied performance artists, and creative technologists, created an immersive experience presented in spatial audio and surround video. Each musical composition and motion graphic animation drew inspiration from the themes, imagery, and rhythmic cadence of the performed poetry and some movements include animated motion capture of embodied movement.
