Psalm 51 is David's teaching after Doeg the Edomite denounced David to Saul. This same Doeg, on Saul's orders, killed the priests with whom David sought refuge. David portrays the villain's utter vileness: he boasts of his malice, daily devises iniquities. How can a word be murderous, "deluge-like"? But he who sows death with tongue and sword will himself be uprooted, while the righteous will take root in the house of God and will glorify Him forever.
