Loony times

With the falconry season well behind me, I find myself pursuing other hobbies, one of which is wildlife photography. In the coming weeks I will be scouting for subjects to photograph particularly as the spring breeding season starts to kick in. Spending time outdoors is always enjoyable regardless if I am carrying a gun , bow or camera. Field craft in hunting has helped me greatly in my amateur wildlife photography. Few things come close epitomizing the wilderness as a common loon. These magnificent birds are only found in remote areas of lakes in the forested area. To hear their call is to hear the call of the wild. I'll share with you some images taken of loons leading up to and during breeding season. Imagine being on some secluded mountain lake and nearby the still waters of a lake and hearing this call across the waters. I had in my mind a goal and vision of what I wanted to capture at eye level and bought a camo belly boat, along with waders and fins. Then I put my truck in the equipment to be able to swim with my camera gear. I was able to capture some images at their eye level for best effect. I hope you enjoy the short clip. Turn up your sound for the best effect.
