VENETO GRAVEL 2022

Veneto Gravel 2022 This is our first experience of the Veneto Gravel, a 400km route. We set off at 4:45 PM on Friday, April 22, from Villa Contarini in Piazzola sul Brenta. Following the Brenta Cycle Route, we arrived in Bassano del Grappa, where the first checkpoint was located. We pedaled through Valstagna as the sunlight slowly gave way to night. Along the dirt roads of Arsiè and Fonzaso, we began turning on our headlights and passed through the center of Feltre, illuminated by the night. The temperature was perfect, and we met a few friends along the way. We stopped in Mel to charge our video equipment and rest for a few hours. We set off again before dawn and watched nature awaken: birds singing and deer running near us. The clouds were low, touching the rocky peaks, and with a breath of mountain air, we reached the second checkpoint, from Robi Bike in Belluno. Then we reached Ponte nelle Alpi and Lake Santa Croce. A quick descent towards Vittorio Veneto, then Conegliano, and many kilometers of asphalt and gravel embankments to reach Caorle. A sandwich and Coke at the Church of the Madonna dell'Angelo, and then the third checkpoint. The menu concluded with a double cycle of bike paths: from Jesolo to Treviso on the Sile Cycle Path, and from Treviso to Piazzola on the Ostiglia-Treviso Cycle Path. We arrived at 7:18 PM on Saturday, April 23, a wonderful experience that we will definitely repeat next year.
