Sadistic Nazi doctor who killed newborns& beat pregnant women to cause miscarriages-Herta Oberheuser

Herta Oberheuser was one of the most infamous Nazi doctors of the Second World War and the only female defendant at the Nuremberg Doctors’ Trial. Trained as a physician in Germany, she joined the Nazi Party and later the SS medical system, where her career led her to Ravensbrück concentration camp — the main camp for women in Nazi Germany. At Ravensbrück, Oberheuser participated in brutal medical experiments carried out on female prisoners, most of them young Polish women. Under the supervision of SS doctors Karl Gebhardt and Fritz Fischer, inmates were deliberately injured, infected with bacteria, and denied proper treatment in order to test sulfonamide drugs. These procedures were performed without anesthesia and caused immense suffering, permanent disability, and death. Oberheuser was also directly involved in killing prisoners by lethal injections, later attempting to portray these murders as acts of mercy. The Ravensbrück experiments became one of the most shocking revelations of the Holocaust. Women were treated as disposable test subjects in a system that completely abandoned medical ethics in favor of Nazi ideology and pseudo-science. Survivors later testified that Oberheuser showed cruelty, indifference, and deliberate neglect toward her victims. After the war, Oberheuser was arrested and tried at Nuremberg during the Doctors’ Trial, which exposed Nazi medical crimes to the world. She was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity and sentenced to prison. Despite this conviction, she was released early and even returned to medical practice in West Germany before public outrage forced authorities to revoke her license. This documentary explores the life of Herta Oberheuser, the Nazi medical system, and the horrific experiments carried out at Ravensbrück. It examines how ideology, obedience, and ambition turned a trained doctor into a perpetrator of crimes that remain among the darkest chapters of Holocaust history.
