May 25, 1976, officially marked the end of three-phase traction in Italy, one of the most important innovations in the country's railway history. This Saturday, May 23, a historic train departed from Milan Central Station for Alessandria and Acqui Terme, commemorating that journey fifty years ago that marked the definitive end of three-phase traction on Italian lines. At Alessandria station, the train was joined by two historic three-phase locomotives, witnessed by countless residents and train enthusiasts. From Alessandria, the historic train then departed for Acqui Terme, where, throughout the weekend, events and initiatives will be held at the Movicentro, immersing visitors in the history of a technology that contributed to Italy's industrial and railway development and that still represents a symbol of national railway engineering.
