Cyclisme Roger De Vlaeminck: "Pogacar plus fort que Merckx ? Mais vous êtes fou !"

Nicknamed "Mr. Paris-Roubaix" for his four victories in the Queen of the Classics, Roger De Vlaeminck was honored by the Friends of Paris-Roubaix on Thursday, April 9th. He officially inaugurated the Abattoir cobblestone in Orchies, which will now bear his name. That evening, he was one of the star guests, along with his compatriot Johan Museeuw, at the Legends Evening at the Roubaix velodrome. At 78, the "Gypsy from Eecklo" is still going strong. Even with his somewhat halting French, Roger De Vlaeminck remains outspoken when comparing the riders of his era with today's stars. He even gets carried away when someone dares to compare Pogacar to his old rival and friend Eddy Merckx. He also expressed concern for Eddy's health, having visited him after his hospitalization.
