Dwijawanthi Thillana Dr Jayanthi Kumaresh
#MaestroLalgudiJayaraman Watching the maestro compose and present his pieces was a joy in itself. One day it would be a composition, one day it would be a koraippu, another day it would be a Korvai, or it would be a Chittaiswaram that he composed, or it would be a Varnam, one day it would be a Thillana! These days were moments of celebration for us. Each Thillana is such a rare gem and playing his Thillana every time is a moment to reconnect with the genius that he was, the aesthetics that his mind had to offered. Sharing with you his Thillana in ragam Dwijavanthi which we performed in Rama Seva Mandali Ramothsava. Joining me are Vidushi Akkarai Subhalakshmi on Violin, Shri. K.U.Jayachandra Rao on Mridangam and Shri. Pramath Kiran on Tabla & Morching. Lalgudi mama has composed a lot of Thillanas in Hindustani ragas. Dwijavanthi is a beautiful Hindustani ragam and has been used quite a lot in Carnatic music by many composers. Hope you enjoy this one!
