My blog: http://tomybeirut.com/ Lady Majida El Roumi's speech at Gibran Tueni's memorial. Gibran Tueni was the head of the Al-Nahar (The Day) newspaper in Lebanon. He was killed in a terrorist attack where a bomb was planted in his car in Lebanon after his return to his country,despite threats to kill him. He was assasinated on December 12th 2005, 13 days before Christmas. His life and works cannot be described in a paragraph. His famous quote at a speech was "In the name of God We, Muslims and Christians, Pledge that united we shall remain to the end of time to defend the Great Lebanon" Lady Majida Roumi, 'l'ange du Liban', the Angel of Lebanon, is a classical Lebanese singer, daughter of Halim El Roumi, a great poet and musician. Whether we agree with her or not, I salute her for standing up and speaking to those who were present in the audience, as well as those who were absent.
